Founded in 1779, Kinahan’s is known around the world for its unconventional approach to the world of whiskey. Kinahan’s does not distil, but collects the best unaged whiskeys from all over Ireland and then dedicates itself in an innovative and unprecedented way to the phases of aging, maturation and blending. The first recognition came in 1807, when the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland began to have his barrels branded with L.L. to ensure exclusive use. By 1862 it was already well-known enough to earn a mention in Professor Jerry Thomas’ famous manual “Guide on How to MIx Drinks,” recognized as the first mixing manual in history.
